Stationary Engineer Location: GM Facility, Lake Orion, MI
Schedule: 7-day rotation including weekends/holidays + on-call
Compensation: $41.32/hr + shift differential
Job Summary Join JLL's utilities operations team as a Stationary Engineer maintaining and operating a large industrial utilities facility serving a manufacturing complex. Responsibilities include monitoring steam, chilled water, wastewater treatment, and essential utility systems while ensuring optimal performance, safety compliance, and energy efficiency in 24/7 operations.
Key Responsibilities
Operate, repair, and maintain high pressure boilers and steam production systems
Manage Trane 1000-ton and 4000-ton Carrier chiller units with primary/secondary pumps
Operate cooling towers, wastewater treatment systems, and resin bed deionized water systems
Perform predictive maintenance (ultrasonic leak detection, thermal scans, vibration analysis)
Monitor systems from control room and respond to equipment needs
Execute scheduled/corrective maintenance per safety and operating procedures
Diagnose problems affecting facility operations and environmental compliance
Maintain detailed records, logbook entries, and support energy conservation measures
Participate in GM's GMS process and Level 5 BPD Boards
Respond to emergencies and provide shift coverage as required
Required Skills Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum 3 years utilities systems maintenance and operation experience
Formal training in energy operations, equipment maintenance, or instrumentation/controls
Solid mechanical and electrical maintenance/repair skills
Knowledge of utility systems, steam production, and maintenance practices
Technical & Certifications
Boiler Operator license (municipality or recognized institution) - Required
Experience with industrial boiler operations and high-pressure steam systems
Knowledge of chiller systems, cooling towers, and HVAC operations
Understanding of wastewater treatment and environmental compliance
Ability to read blueprints, technical manuals, and operational procedures
Physically fit for industrial environment (lifting, climbing, confined spaces)
Core Competencies
Strong safety awareness and procedure adherence
Independent work capability in 24/7 operational environment
Excellent record-keeping and documentation skills
Problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
