Election Assistant II, NC (Temporary) Filing Period:

December 10, 2021 – until closure of recruitment.

Job Overview The Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk of Los Angeles County seeks an Election Assistant II to support a variety of election-related duties, including recruitment, training, operations at vote centers, computer setup, translation, and clerical support. The role serves under the supervision of an Election Assistant III or higher.

Essential Job Functions

Recruit specialized election operations staff and coordinate voter information centers.

Assist placement of vote center leads and assistant leads.

Manage election materials and supplies; set up and remove equipment at vote centers, headquarters, and other facilities.

Serve as lead at one or more vote or mobile pop‑up centers: open/close centers, process voters, answer inquiries, reconcile end‑of‑day reports, and deliver voted ballots to assigned locations.

Develop training courses and assist in scheduling and conducting election training classes.

Produce training videos or employee orientation videos (camera, lighting, sound, editing).

Transport supplies and election materials between warehouses, truck‑yard, vote centers, and other operations.

Identify and secure potential vote‑center locations in compliance with ADA guidelines.

Configure, install, and test personal computers and printers; troubleshoot software and hardware issues.

Proofread, review, and edit election materials in English and other languages; translate materials as needed; recruit and place multilingual workers.

Perform clerical duties related to the election process.

Selection Requirements

Minimum six (6) months of clerical, computer technical support, or prior election experience.

Paid or volunteer experience acceptable; part‑time work prorated monthly.

Valid California Class C driver license or alternative transportation method to perform essential functions.

Physical Class

Class 2 – Light Work:

Light lifting up to 10 lb, occasional bending, stooping, squatting; frequent ambulation.

Class 3 – Moderate Work:

Standing/walking most of the time; heavy lifting up to 25 lb; twisting, reaching, working on irregular surfaces.

Class 4 – Arduous Work:

Frequent heavy lifting over 25 lb; bending, twisting, or working above ground on irregular surfaces.

Special Requirement Information

Computer technical support defined as configuring, installing, and testing personal computers and peripherals.

Prior election experience defined as working on assignments for the preparation and execution of local, state, and municipal elections.

Examination This is a noncompetitive assessment; no exam required. The assessment qualifies applicants for the eligible register for a period of twelve (12) months.

Selective Certification Language specialties: Armenian, Bengali, Burmese, Chinese, Farsi, Gujarati, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Khmer, Korean, Mongolian, Russian, Spanish, Tagalog, Telugu, Thai, Vietnamese.
