Personal Financial Counselor, PFC - Austin, TX
This position will provide personal financial services at assigned military installations, offering comprehensive counseling to service members and their families.
Responsibilities
Provide personal financial counseling and management services to service members and their families.
Assist service members in establishing spending plans for extended absences.
Develop and distribute informational financial materials.
Coordinate, publicize, and deliver Personal Financial Management classes/workshops covering military life‑cycle events.
Respond to requests for age‑appropriate classes or seminars.
Utilize virtual counseling and other electronic communication modes (web‑based, secure chat, video) as authorized.
Manage duty‑to‑warn situations per DoD protocol.
Communicate with leadership and participate in supervision, sharing trends and issues.
Participate in regular in‑service training, quality‑improvement committees, or contract activities as assigned.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required (associate degree + 4 years experience or high school diploma + 6 years experience may be considered).
3+ years of financial counseling experience.
U.S. citizenship and fluent English (bilingual English/Spanish if required by contract).
Ability to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
Capability to pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
Must hold one of the following certifications: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).
Compensation & Benefits Salary range: $53,125 – $84,995, with possible short‑term incentives and a comprehensive benefits package including health, life, and voluntary benefits.
