Position Overview This Estimator is an entry-level position responsible for supporting the estimating team in preparing accurate and timely cost estimates for HVAC projects. This role is ideal for a motivated individual interested in building a career in project management, estimating, or construction operations. The Estimator will work under the guidance of senior estimators and project managers to learn the foundations of HVAC system costing and scope development.

Job Responsibilities

Assist in quantity take-offs and basic labor/material cost calculations for HVAC systems

Review project plans, specifications, and scopes of work under supervision

Support bid preparation processes, including compiling subcontractor and vendor quotes

Help develop and organize estimate documentation for submission

Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits with estimators or project managers

Maintain project bid files and follow up on outstanding vendor or subcontractor information

Enter estimate data into bid software or spreadsheets for tracking and analysis

Work closely with team members to learn the estimating lifecycle from bid to hand-off

Accountabilities

Maintain accuracy and attention to detail in all assigned tasks

Deliver work promptly and meet internal estimate deadlines

Communicate effectively with team members and request guidance when needed

Follow safety procedures and company policies when on job sites

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or trade school experience preferred

2+ years of experience in HVAC, estimating, or construction support (including internships or co-op experience)

Basic understanding of blueprint reading and construction documents

Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook; experience with estimating software a plus

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Ability to pass a background check and drug screening

Behavioral Profile Language Skills Ability to read and understand construction documents, instructions, and specifications. Can communicate effectively with team members and vendors.

Mathematical Skills Strong basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and unit conversions. Comfort with spreadsheets and data entry.

Reasoning Ability Able to follow instructions, prioritize tasks, and seek clarification as needed. Capable of basic troubleshooting and problem-solving within assigned work.

Physical Demands Primarily office-based with occasional site visits. May involve walking job sites, climbing ladders, or light lifting up to 25 lbs when assisting with site assessments.
