Key Responsibilities For Grant Accountant
Grant Management & Compliance
Oversee financial reporting for active grants
Ensure compliance with grant requirements and deadlines
Serve as the primary point of contact for grant-related financial matters
Budgeting & Financial Support
Assist with program and grant budget development
Support program managers with financial narratives and reporting
General Accounting
Month-end close, reconciliations, and financial software accuracy
Lead the annual single audit cycle
Collaborate across departments to maintain financial integrity
Qualifications For Grant Accountant
Experience
3–5+ years in general accounting (staff accountant level)
Nonprofit and/or grant accounting experience strongly preferred
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred (flexible for extensive experience)
Skills
Strong verbal communication and ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial staff
Adaptable, collaborative, and comfortable working with diverse stakeholders
