Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive General Ledger Accountant to join a growing finance team. This role is responsible for managing account reconciliations, fixed assets, allocations, and supporting month-end and year-end close processes. The ideal candidate has strong accounting knowledge, hands‑on ERP experience, and is comfortable working in a collaborative and mission‑driven environment.
Responsibilities
Perform monthly bank reconciliations and reconcile non-cash balance sheet accounts, including prepaid expenses, accruals, lease liabilities, and payables; investigate and resolve discrepancies.
Maintain fixed‑asset records, including acquisitions, transfers, disposals, depreciation calculations, and periodic physical inventories.
Calculate and post shared‑cost allocations across departments, programs, and grants in line with organizational policies.
Track and record prepaid expenses such as licenses, insurance, and other multi-period invoices.
Ensure consignment payable accounts are accurate and reconciled monthly.
Support month‑end and year‑end close processes by preparing and reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, and balance‑sheet roll‑forwards.
Serve as a key liaison for external auditors, assisting with audit schedules and resolving findings.
Monitor and enhance internal control processes, ensuring compliance with GAAP and organizational standards.
Assist with ERP system upgrades and enhancements.
Deliver financial analysis, variance explanations, and KPI reporting to senior leadership to enable data‑driven decision‑making.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
3–5+ years of progressive general ledger or financial accounting experience, including month‑end and year‑end close cycles.
Proficiency in US GAAP and FASB standards, with hands‑on experience reconciling balance‑sheet accounts and preparing journal entries.
Experience with large ERP systems (e.g., Workday, Oracle, SAP, NetSuite).
Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP).
Experience in nonprofit or government‑contract accounting is a plus, including management of restricted net assets.
Ability to prepare audit‑ready schedules and support internal reviews and external audits.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail and continuous‑improvement mindset.
Effective communicator, able to partner across departments to clarify accounting treatment and streamline processes.
Self‑starter with a growth mindset and a collaborative, mission‑driven attitude.
