SHR Talent is partnering with a client in Nashville, TN in its search for a Senior Accountant. The Senior Accountant will play a critical role in supporting core accounting functions, month-end close, and financial reporting activities. The Senior Accountant position is ideal for a self‑directed accounting professional who is intellectually curious, comfortable working independently, and motivated by problem‑solving rather than rigid task execution. The Senior Accountant role sits on a high-performing accounting team and offers a hybrid work schedule, providing flexibility within an otherwise in‑office environment.
Responsibilities
Perform month-end and quarter-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis
Support preparation of internal financial statements and management reporting
Research and resolve accounting issues, applying U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and sound professional judgment
Collaborate cross-functionally to understand business activities and ensure proper accounting treatment
Analyze financial data using advanced Excel skills to identify trends and improvement opportunities
Assist with process improvement initiatives and documentation of accounting procedures
Utilize Microsoft 365 tools such as Excel, Teams, SharePoint, etc. to support collaboration and reporting
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
4 – 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
Public accounting experience, particularly audit, strongly preferred
Combination of public accounting and corporate accounting experience, highly desirable
Strong understanding of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and general accounting principles
Advanced Excel skills within a Microsoft 365 environment
Ability to work independently without the need for detailed daily instruction
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
