Controller – SEC Reporting & Equity Compensation

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced
Controller
to join our team on a temporary, onsite basis. This role will oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance functions, with a strong focus on SEC reporting, equity/stock option accounting, and GAAP compliance. The Controller will lead the accounting team, ensure accuracy in financial data, and provide executive leadership with meaningful financial insights.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee all accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, accrued expenses, and fixed assets.
Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes with accuracy and timeliness.
Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures.
Prepare and review SEC filings (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, proxy statements, and related disclosures).
Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, SEC regulations, and internal policies.
Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and quarterly reviews.
Monitor new accounting pronouncements and assess impact on reporting.
Partner with tax advisors to prepare annual tax provisions and ensure compliance with ASC 740.
Assist with federal, state, and local tax filings and payments.
Manage equity and stock option accounting, including valuation, expense recognition, and cap table reconciliation.
Collaborate with HR and legal teams on equity plan administration.
Drive process improvements, system enhancements, and automation initiatives.
Provide financial insights to support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
7–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, and equity compensation accounting.
Experience with stock option valuation models (e.g., Black‑Scholes) and equity administration.
Prior public company experience strongly preferred.
Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
Exceptional attention to detail, analytical mindset, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
