Manager, Global Reinsurance Finance & Accounting
Lead Finance Strategy for Complex Reinsurance Operations
A high‑profile, multinational financial institution is seeking an accomplished finance professional to take ownership of the accounting, controls, and financial integrity of its global reinsurance operations. This highly autonomous, critical role will drive compliance and strategic business insights.
Ideal candidate is a technical expert with proven ability to manage complex, multi‑jurisdictional reporting frameworks.
The Opportunity: Scope and Impact This managerial position will govern, account for, and report on all financial aspects of ceded reinsurance across multiple product lines, ensuring accuracy, disciplined cash flow, and regulatory compliance worldwide. You will report directly to the CFO or a senior finance executive.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Financial Close & Reporting:
Lead and execute the full‑cycle monthly and quarterly close process for ceded reinsurance, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements under multiple accounting standards (e.g., US GAAP, IFRS, IFRS 17/LDTI).
Controls & Compliance:
Uphold rigorous internal controls (ICFR/SOX) and serve as the primary finance liaison for internal and external audits and regulatory filings.
Cash & Recoveries Management:
Oversee the management of reinsurance recoverables, settlements, and cash application to minimize aging and credit risk (including CECL/IFRS 9 analysis).
Strategic Business Partnering:
Produce high‑quality performance analytics (MI/KRI) to partner with Actuarial and Underwriting teams, informing decisions on treaty economics and capital efficiency.
System & Process Excellence:
Drive systems enhancements and process automation (e.g., SQL, RPA, Power BI) to improve data governance and reduce cycle time and risk.
Required Qualifications
Experience:
5+ years of progressive experience in an insurance or reinsurance finance role, with deep expertise in ceded reinsurance accounting across multiple product lines (Life, Health, P&C).
Technical Knowledge:
Strong working knowledge of global accounting principles (US GAAP, IFRS/IFRS 17, Statutory) and internal control frameworks (ICFR/SOX).
Certification:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance required; CPA or ACCA designation strongly preferred.
Language:
Must be fluent in English; Spanish proficiency is highly desirable.
