Position Summary The Trader / Investment Operations position supports the implementation and ongoing maintenance of client portfolios across the firm. This role is responsible for executing trades related to internally managed and externally managed portfolios, supporting cash management and portfolio rebalances, and assisting with illiquid asset workflows. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, analytically curious, and eager to learn within a collaborative wealth advisory environment. This position offers meaningful exposure to portfolio implementation, investment operations, investment management, and cross‑functional teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
Implementation and maintenance of internal and third‑party portfolios and strategies across client accounts
Execute routine portfolio rebalances, cash trades, and account maintenance activities under established guidelines and supervision
Support daily cash management workflows, including funding needs, distributions, and liquidity monitoring
Perform daily reviews of all trade executions and any related exception reports
Assist with illiquid investment processes, including capital calls, distributions, and coordination with custodians and administrators
Monitor accounts for drift, restrictions, and exceptions; elevate issues as appropriate
Partner with the investment team to support portfolio changes and strategy updates
Communicate with advisors and operations team members regarding trade execution status and account activity
Maintain clear documentation of trading activity and operational processes
Develop subject‑matter expertise on trade‑related technology platforms
Identify opportunities to improve workflows, controls, and efficiency; contribute ideas and recommendations as experience grows
Provide white glove service and support to advisory teams and Bison clients
Assist with compliance‑related inquiries, including trade‑related reporting and documentation
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business, or a related field
0–3 years of experience in a trading, investment operations, or wealth management support role (internships welcome)
Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately with data and numbers
Solid analytical and problem‑solving skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and follow established processes in a deadline‑driven environment
Intellectual curiosity and willingness to learn investment and trading workflows
Clear written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
Familiarity with portfolio management or trading systems is a plus
