Financial Data Analyst

The analyst will apply subject matter expertise related to DoD financial policies, processes, and systems. The analyst will participate in data analysis and formulation of advice, assist or lead in preparation and presentation of reports, briefings, and project deliverables.
Responsibilities
Participate in analysis primarily related to Army National Guard (ARNG), Air National Guard (ANG), and NGB budget execution matters. This includes tracking, reporting, and analysis of costs, obligations, disbursements, reprogramming results, and related historical and current trends.
Assess issues and evaluate impacts and differences between President’s Budget Requests, Congressional Marks, Reprogramming Actions, and other decisions.
Provide timely information and develop and compile metrics, periodic analytic products, reports, and integrated dashboards, as well as recommendations for NGB leaders.
Assist in developing, staffing, and finalizing NGB senior leader correspondence and providing input to execution‑related products, processes, guidance, and policy.
Support development and response to formal staffing actions.
Employ analytical skills to develop an empirical basis to support analysis and recommendations.
Collaborate with staff across the ARNG, ANG, and NGB to develop working relationships to maintain situational awareness on financial issues and facilitate developing recommendations for leaders.
Required Skills
U.S. Citizen
Active Secret clearance
Proven analytical and strong organizational skills
Detail oriented and able to multi‑task across concurrent initiatives
Exceptional verbal and written communication and organizational skills
Extensive knowledge of financial management policy and regulations within the DoD
Proficiency with groupware applications (SharePoint, MS Teams) and the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Proficiency in the use of financial systems (GFEBS, DEAMS, FMSuite, AFM, CRIS, STANFINS, ODS)
Proficiency in the analysis and manipulation of financial data.
Must be able to travel.
Preferred Skills
Proficiency in DoD tasking systems (ETMS2 or TMT)
Proficiency in Advana, Power BI, Power Query, and other database and data analysis applications
Certified Defense Financial Manager (CDFM)
DoD FM Certification
Required Experience
3‑6 years performing comptroller functions within senior defense organizations in the Pentagon (Services, Reserve Components, Joint Staff, NGB, OSD).
3‑6 years conducting and presenting budget/financial data analysis and assessing financial conditions by applying financial principles, policies, methods, techniques, and systems.
Experience working with the National Guard preferred.
Required Education
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited school recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
Graduated from ACSC or IDE; if former military officer, commensurate Professional Military Education; if former Warrant, Enlisted or Civil Service, commensurate PME.
Preferred Education
Master’s Degree from an accredited school recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, financial or accounting focus preferred.
Commensurate Professional Military Education if former military.
