Position Summary Foundation for Puerto Rico is seeking a highly experienced
Finance & Accounting Specialist
to support and strengthen the organization’s financial and accounting operations. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), this role will play a critical part in ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and strong financial practices across the organization. The ideal candidate will bring solid expertise in
finance, accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting , and will work closely with leadership, program teams, and external partners to support informed decision‑making and organizational sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
Support the CFO in day‑to‑day financial and accounting operations.
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and reconciliations.
Maintain accuracy of general ledger entries and financial records.
Support budget development, monitoring, and variance analysis.
Track expenditures and ensure compliance with approved budgets and funding sources.
Support financial compliance for grants, contracts, and donor‑funded programs.
Assist with audit preparation, including schedules, documentation, and coordination with auditors.
Maintain and strengthen internal controls, policies, and financial procedures.
Collaborate with program, grants, and compliance teams to provide financial guidance and support.
Monitor cash flow and support financial planning activities.
Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, systems, and efficiencies.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in finance and accounting roles.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
Experience supporting audits and compliance processes.
Proficiency with accounting systems and financial software.
High attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in nonprofit organizations.
Experience with federal and private grant financial compliance.
CPA or other relevant certification (preferred but not required).
Bilingual (Spanish and English).
Work Schedule This is a full‑time position. Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required.
