The position of

CEI Inspector

to work on the West Alabama Highway Progressive Design – Build Project located in Demopolis (AL) and the surrounding area.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience on DOT-related projects, with an emphasis in bridge construction. The project involves widening existing highways and constructing new alignments for a new four-lane divided highway along the 74‑mile route from Thomasville to Tuscaloosa, AL. The project includes construction of 23 new bridges, over 100 box culverts, drainage improvements, utility relocation, and paving.

Responsibilities

Inspection for compliance with contract documents, standards, and specifications.

Keeping daily diaries on project operations, resolving daily constructability issues, and troubleshooting problems to mitigate delays to the project’s progress.

Monitoring contractor’s daily operations.

Documenting pay records, performing construction calculations, and computer/iPad entry.

Effectively communicating and coordinating work with contractors, subcontractors, utility owners, and property owners to minimize delays and disturbances while maximizing progress of the projects.

Identify and report non‑conformances to the Project Manager.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent.

ALDOT certifications or ability to obtain ALDOT certifications immediately.

Eight years of experience in bridge construction.

Possess a valid driver’s license and a satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR).

Ability to pass a drug test.

Must be able to perform moderate physical activity, including but not limited to walking, climbing, balancing, kneeling, and standing.

Must be able to work nights and weekends as required.

If applicable to the position, a post‑offer fit for duty evaluation to ensure the individual can safely perform the essential functions of the role.
