The Tax Accountant is responsible for assisting in the preparation of federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and non‑profit organizations. This role is ideal for someone with 1‑2 years of tax preparation experience who is eager to expand their knowledge and grow within a supportive CPA firm.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare individual, corporate, partnership, and trust income tax returns
Gather, organize, and analyze client financial information
Identify potential tax credits, deductions, and liabilities
Assist in responding to IRS and state tax notices
Maintain client confidentiality and protect sensitive information
Stay updated on tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance
Communicate with clients to request documentation and clarify information
Support senior accountants and partners with tax planning and research
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, MAcc preferred
Experience: 1‑2 years of recent experience preparing tax returns in a public accounting environment preferred
Certifications: Enrolled Agent (EA), CPA or working toward CPA designation is preferred
Skills And Competencies
Working knowledge of tax preparation software (e.g., ProSystem fx, UltraTax, Lacerte, or similar)
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
