About the Position Tallahassee State College (TSC), recently recognized as one of the Most Promising Places to Work in Community Colleges for 2025, is excited to announce a full-time grant‑funded opening for the position of Career Development Specialist, Okeechobee, FL – P05701 with DOC – Okeechobee Correctional Institution.

What You’ll Do As a Career Development Specialist, you’ll play a key role in providing services related to Compass 100 Hybrid and supplemental in‑cell assignments through cell-front instruction for eligible participants who are in restrictive housing as directed by the Lead Educator.
Day‑to‑day responsibilities
Administration and interpretation of assessments
Delivery of the 100‑Hour Transition Skills Program curriculum
Delivery of other programs as determined by the Department
Maintaining and providing documentation of services delivered
Reporting monthly attendance, program enrollments, and completions on the Department’s approved form, DC5‑149 "Correctional Daily Attendance Roster" (Attachment #2)
Providing information pertaining to pre‑release connections of community providers and employers for inmate release planning services to facility release officer’s
Assisting the Pre‑Release Employment Navigators with hiring events, mock interviews, pre‑release job search, recruitment, and readiness portfolio development through face‑to‑face and technology‑based interactions
Who We’re Looking For
Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university or a high school diploma, and at least two (2) years of professional experience in the workforce development, social services, or corrections field
Proficient in Microsoft Office and data entry
Bonus Points If You Have
Associate’s Degree and at least one year of experience in the social services or corrections field
