Duke Health Lake Norman Hospital is the smallest of Duke Health’s four hospitals at 123 beds, offering a comprehensive range of medical services, including 24‑hour emergency care, cardiology, orthopedics, women’s services, and surgical specialties.
Overview The Sr. HR Business Partner’s role is to provide strategic partnership across four primary areas: workforce planning; talent and culture strategy; business operations and risk management; and employee relations. The role delivers HR services that address the unique needs of their customers in alignment with overall HR strategies. It also mentors and supervises HR business partners and provides professional HR advisory services by building respectful, trusting relationships with managers, leaders, and employees.
Responsibilities Provide strategic direction to higher‑level leaders (generally AVPs and above). Build and maintain strategic relationships. Partner with key stakeholders and leaders to align talent solutions with operational priorities, forecast future workforce needs, and provide analytics insights to aid informed decision‑making. Partner with the business on key talent initiatives, identify solutions to critical workforce planning trends, and develop strategies for leveraging talent, driving culture initiatives, retention strategies, and succession planning. Provide consultative support to execute total rewards strategy and identify operational risks related to compliance and mitigation strategies. Proactively partner to drive change initiatives, guide leaders through complex employee‑relations issues, and create strategies to mitigate future issues. Handle employee‑relations escalations, advise, lead consistency across the business, monitor, measure, and recommend corrective action. Collaborate across entities to drive consistency, create consistent practices and service delivery, and provide broad project leadership across multiple areas. Manage project budgets and maintain fiscal responsibility. Make HR operational level decisions impacting leaders, service lines, and system. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
Experience: Minimum five (5) years of strategic partnership experience in Human Resources or a combination of education and experience sufficient to meet the relevant experience and competencies. Experience across multiple HR disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, diversity and inclusion strategies, performance management, organizational development, talent acquisition, and applicable employment laws.
