McLean, VA . We currently have an immediate opening for a
Sr. Systems Administrator
to support our contract in Lanham, MD.
Our government client has a requirement to provide support in Infrastructure Management for a Senior System Administrator, with strong Microsoft Hyper‑V administration skills in both a physical and hyperconverged environment.
Hours of support are Monday through Friday from 8am to 4:30pm, with occasional overtime and/or weekend work as necessary to finish the task(s)/project.
Clearance Requirements: Must be able to pass Federal Government Background Investigation. Public Trust Clearance
Project SCOPE:
Build, configure, and troubleshoot software and hardware enhancements, application deployments and infrastructure up‑grades for Microsoft Windows Server 2008, 2012, and 2016 in a Microsoft Hyper‑V environment (must have at least 5 years of hands on experience in a large‑scale environment)
Diagnose and correct Microsoft Hyper‑V VM server issues
Perform daily and advanced management and administration of Hyper‑V VMs via Microsoft System Center SCVMM
Ability to install and configure Windows Server software
Recommend software and hardware enhancements
Ability to manage and administer iDRAC or other remote console software for servers. (specifically, for Dell EMC or HP servers)
Responding to users’ request for assistance via problem management and tracking software, (ex. Remedy, CA ServiceDesk, etc.)
Responding to technical staff’s request for assistance via problem management and tracking software, (ex. Remedy, CA ServiceDesk, etc.)
Providing remote help desk and server support to remote office administrators.
Providing software and hardware familiarization overviews with technical staff.
Coordinate with internal IT teams and vendors in escalation and troubleshooting.
Act as technical liaison to the US Government customer.
Diagnose and correct computer systems’ issues.
Provide hands‑on system administration support, system maintenance and operations support.
Other Required Skills:
Experience administering Windows servers in a hyperconverged environment.
Experience administering and maintaining DFS files and shares.
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to work with users’ and other technicians with varying IT backgrounds
Ability to work in a fast‑paced and sometimes stressful environment.
Desired Skills:
Microsoft MCSE: Core Infrastructure or MCSA: Server 2012 or 2016 certification; and the
