IT System Administrator (Consultative & Technical) – MSP
Base pay range
$70,000.00/yr - $80,000.00/yr
This role offers the opportunity to manage and support the IT environments of multiple clients across a variety of industries. You’ll work hands‑on with servers, networks, security, cloud platforms, and end‑user systems while also serving as a trusted technical advisor to clients.
We’re looking for a technically strong, detail‑oriented professional who thrives in an MSP environment—someone who can switch seamlessly between troubleshooting, project work, and strategic conversations with client stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Support and maintain client IT infrastructures, including servers, networks, firewalls, desktops, and cloud systems
Manage and communicate with multiple clients simultaneously, setting expectations and providing clear status updates
Assess client environments and recommend technology solutions aligned with business goals
Lead and execute IT projects, coordinating internal and external resources as needed
Deploy and maintain network and server environments (physical and virtual)
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to hardware, software, security, and performance
Translate technical concepts into clear, non‑technical language for end users and executives
Requirements
3+ years of relevant IT experience
At least 1 year of experience as a System Administrator, Network Administrator, IT Consultant, or IT Manager
Prior MSP experience required
Strong customer‑facing communication skills (written and verbal)
Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and follow issues through to resolution
Comfortable working onsite with clients as needed (Austin, TX area)
Physically able to install and move IT hardware
Technical Experience (Preferred)
Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP
VMware and/or Hyper‑V
Networking fundamentals (routing, switching, LAN/WAN, VPN, TCP/IP)
Firewalls (Fortinet, Palo Alto, or similar)
Backup, disaster recovery, and security platforms
