Manager, Extended Producer Responsibility
Position Summary
The Global Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Program Manager will spearhead Bausch + Lomb’s worldwide compliance with EPR regulations for product packaging and end‑of‑life stewardship. This role is critical for ensuring B+L meets all current and emerging EPR requirements across Europe, North America, and other regions, while driving internal initiatives to reduce packaging waste in line with our sustainability goals. Reporting to the Global Vice President of EHS & Sustainability, the Manager will lead cross‑functional efforts to develop strategies, systems, and processes that fulfill EPR obligations and advance our commitment to sustainable packaging.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor Global Regulations: Continuously track and interpret extended producer responsibility laws and packaging waste regulations in all relevant markets.
EPR Compliance Program Leadership: Establish and lead a cross‑functional EPR compliance program to ensure B+L meets its producer obligations globally.
Data Management & Reporting: Develop and manage robust systems for collecting, tracking, and reporting packaging data required under EPR schemes.
External Liaison: Function as the primary liaison with external EPR compliance partners and agencies.
Packaging Sustainability & Waste Reduction: Drive initiatives to reduce packaging waste and improve recyclability in line with regulatory requirements and internal sustainability targets.
Policy Implementation & Training: Ensure internal awareness and compliance with relevant company policies and standards related to sustainable packaging and EPR.
Metrics and Reporting to Leadership: Define KPIs and track the performance of B+L’s EPR compliance program, reporting progress to leadership.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with related sustainability initiatives and compliance areas to ensure a cohesive approach to extended producer responsibility.
Qualifications & Experience
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Packaging, Sustainability, Engineering, Public Policy, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Experience: 7+ years in environmental compliance, product stewardship, or sustainability program management, preferably with international/regional scope in pharmaceutical, medical device, or consumer goods industries.
Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of extended producer responsibility frameworks and waste regulations.
Packaging / Product Stewardship: Familiarity with packaging design, materials, or life‑cycle assessment.
Project Management Skills: Excellent project management and organizational skills, with ability to lead complex projects and cross‑functional teams.
Analytical & Data Skills: Strong analytical skills with experience managing large data sets related to products or materials.
Communication & Influence: Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to convey complex regulatory information to diverse audiences.
Strategic Thinking: Strategic mindset with the ability to anticipate future regulatory trends and plan for compliance.
