Overview Soft Tech Consulting is seeking a highly motivated, self‑directed Systems Administrator to join a collaborative team environment and provide expertise and guidance for projects. The role involves defining project objectives, supporting quality control, coordinating team members, and ensuring client relations and project success. Work location: Onsite – White Sands Missile Range, White Sands, NM.

Responsibilities

Ensure client services are fully functional 24/7.

Troubleshoot system outages and recover services in the shortest time possible.

Ensure all client services meet DoD 8500 series and NIST 800‑53 security requirements.

Implement and monitor server backup/restore operations as defined in government SOPs.

Develop systems architecture and related documentation.

Create test plans for evaluating hardware and software for implementation.

Provide written evaluations of system concepts, designs, and support program proposals to recommend performance optimizations.

Research, develop, demonstrate, integrate, and test innovative technologies.

Implement and monitor disaster recovery plans.

Implement and monitor testing and installation of patches, updates, tools, and future software versions.

Ensure server logs are kept on a central log server (e.g., Splunk) and provided to the ISSM upon request.

Troubleshoot all IT issues to ensure server reliability.

Recommend future performance needs through capacity planning and management monitoring.

Perform full beta‑testing to ensure functionality and integration before using production systems.

Provide clients with written test plans and testing results prior to implementation.

Perform preventive maintenance and server patching after normal business hours.

Schedule and install all required server patches after normal business hours.

Upgrade, maintain, and provide security patches on all servers.

Ensure compliance with Cybersecurity Vulnerability Alerts and STIGs.

Provide engineering consulting and compliance management.

Assist in technical evaluation of vendor submissions for compliance with client specifications.

Prepare and deliver training to technical staff and user personnel.

Maintain system and data integrity, including virus checking.

Participate in Change Management Control processes and submit Requests for Change.

Administer system security tools such as ACAS, SCAP, and Radix.

Ensure STIG checklists and associated artifacts are reviewed, and validation results posted.

Administer government and/or commercially developed server applications and services as required.

Qualifications

BA or BS with 5+ years of overall applicable experience (highly preferred).

Minimum requirement: HS Diploma with 7+ years of overall applicable experience.

Interim Secret clearance allowed until full Secret.

Obtain and maintain a computing environment certification relevant to duties (within 6 months of hire).

DoD 8570.01‑M baseline certification required at hire.

Experience administering government and/or commercially developed server applications and services.

Experience evaluating hardware and software for implementation.

Experience with system concepts and designs.

Experience recommending actions to optimize system performance.

Experience researching, developing, demonstrating, integrating, and testing innovative technologies.

Experience implementing and monitoring testing and installation of patches, updates, tools, and future software versions.

Experience making recommendations addressing future performance needs of enterprise services.

Experience monitoring capacity planning and management for continuity and functionality.

Experience with preventive maintenance and server patching.

Experience installing patches on client servers and workstations.

Experience upgrading, maintaining, and providing security patches.

Experience maintaining system and data integrity, including virus checking.

Experience with Change Management Control processes and submitting Requests for Change.

Experience administering system security tools such as ACAS, SCAP, and Radix.

Must work independently.

Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.

Must follow instructions and support all team members.
