Position Title
Applications Analyst – Broadmoor Campus, University of Kansas Health System
Position Summary / Career Interest Responsible for implementation and support of applications. Works closely with end users to troubleshoot and correct problems relating to applications and assists with conversions and implementations of software products.
Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
Demonstrates accountability in delivering assigned tasks and reports project issues and accomplishments to project manager.
Analyzes and documents current and future needs and workflows through interviews and data gathering regarding regulatory requirements, operational procedures and hospital/department policies.
Participates in planning, development, implementation, maintenance, support and evaluation of clinical or business application systems. Activities may include system design, documentation, workflow redesign, database building, testing and troubleshooting.
Works effectively and efficiently as part of a team on assignments, and takes direction when necessary.
Under supervision, designs, documents, builds and modifies complex critical applications, demonstrates knowledge of tools such as process flow documentation and base level project reporting.
Researches stakeholder requests for optimizations using vendor application resources.
Develops and maintains knowledge of interface design and development between distributed systems.
Obtains certification or proficiency in the assigned Epic application or other assigned applications within 6 months of employment.
Maintains certification/proficiency once obtained.
Develops understanding of project management methodologies (planning, scope definition, timeline development, dependency consideration, staffing, project structure, status/issue management).
Contributes to turnover documentation and presentation when projects are completed.
Develops understanding of testing concepts, executes test scripts, maintains test scripts as workflows change, documents status and issues, and partakes in troubleshooting and issue resolution.
Participates in training development, validates training curriculum, serves as proctor during training events.
Responds to off‑duty calls.
Performs professional, clinical and/or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.
Other duties may be assigned as required.
Required Education and Experience
Associate’s Degree in Information Technology or four years’ experience in an application analyst role within a healthcare setting.
Preferred Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology.
Required Licensure and Certification
Certification or proficiency (with certification level score) in the assigned Epic application or related application, obtained and maintained according to Epic’s CEE program guidelines within 180 days.
