Job Description As a Software Engineer I here at Honeywell, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of innovative software solutions that enhance our aerospace products and services. You will work in a dynamic environment, collaborating with experienced engineers and gaining hands‑on experience in software development. You will report directly to our Engineering Manager, and you’ll work out of our Phoenix, Arizona location on a hybrid work schedule.

The Honeywell Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System (EGPWS) reduces the risk of controlled flight into terrain (CFIT) by providing flight crews with timely, accurate information about terrain and obstacles in the area. The system uses various aircraft inputs and an internal database to predict and warn flight crews of potential conflicts with obstacles or terrain. Additional features include SmartRunway and SmartLanding systems, developed to help flight crews avoid potential runway incursions and excursions.

As a Software Engineer I for the Multi‑Platform EGPWS Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System (EGPWS) Software Core Development program within Honeywell’s Aero business, you will contribute to the team as a software developer and grow and expand your skills on exciting new projects. You will contribute to proposals to address future business opportunities, provide your ideas for problem solving and be part of a product and team that has a positive impact on aviation safety.

Qualifications You Must Have:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics.

Minimum of 1 year of experience in software development.

Strong understanding of programming languages such as C++, Java, or Python.

Experience with software development tools and methodologies, including version control systems.

Familiarity with software testing and debugging techniques.

We Value:

Ability to code in C++ and other languages

Experience in C/C++ embedded engineering and design in Aerospace Engineering

Software architecture experience and common core software approach

Knowledge of Terrain Avoidance and Warning System (TAWS) or Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System (EGPWS)

DO‑178C familiarity

Familiarity with STC and TSO certification documents

Ability to describe complex technical concepts to engineering team members as well as to business and engineering stakeholders

Organizational and interpersonal skills

Ability to motivate and lead a team – local and distributed – through your example.

Understanding various software development lifecycle

Demonstrate the ability to develop efficient and high‑quality software
