IT NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR (TEMPORARY CONTRACT POSITION)
International City/County Management Association (ICMA) Veterans is seeking an experienced IT Network Administrator to manage the City of Fort Pierce’s enterprise network infrastructure on a 1-year contract as an independent contractor. General Description
The Network Administrator will design, implement, secure, and administer the City’s network infrastructure, ensuring reliable connectivity, compliance with CJIS and municipal security standards, and optimal performance across all departments and remote sites. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Administer, configure, and maintain all network systems (switches, routers, firewalls, wireless access points, VPNs, VoIP solutions). Manage network security infrastructure, including firewall rule sets, IDS/IPS, content filtering, and remote access controls. Monitor and optimize network performance, bandwidth utilization, and uptime. Develop and implement disaster recovery strategies in coordination with Systems Administration. Maintain secure connections for City facilities, remote workers, and intergovernmental partners. Plan and execute network capacity upgrades and lifecycle management. Maintain accurate documentation of architecture, diagrams, inventory, and procedures. Provide Tier III escalation support for complex networking issues. Ensure compliance with CJIS, state, and municipal security requirements. Collaborate with other City divisions to support technology initiatives requiring secure and reliable connectivity. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered. Minimum 5 years of progressive network administration experience, preferably in the public sector. Strong knowledge of firewalls, routing, switching, VPNs, wireless network technologies. Expertise in network security, IDS/IPS, and firewall rule management. Experience with VoIP systems and QoS for voice and video. Familiarity with hybrid environments (on‑prem and cloud) supporting municipal operations. Ability to obtain CJIS certification within 90 days of employment. Valid Florida driver’s license with acceptable record. Preferred Certifications
Cisco CCNA/CCNP, CompTIA Network+, Security+, or Fortinet NSE. Other Requirements
Independent contractor (1099) status. Experience in CJIS compliance preferred. Ready to work on a 1‑year contract. Physical and Environmental Conditions
Occasional outdoor exposure and handling of equipment. Must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Standard office environment, moderate noise level. Other Information
