We are seeking an Electric Distribution Designer with hands‑on experience in the design of overhead (OH) and underground (UG) electric utility distribution systems. The ideal candidate understands electric utility equipment, construction standards, operations, industry codes, NESC requirements, and utility dressing conventions. This position requires strong coordination skills, as you will work closely with our internal fiber design team, utility engineers, field personnel, and customers to deliver high‑quality, constructible designs.

You will play a critical role in supporting utility infrastructure upgrades, system expansions, reliability improvements, and joint‑use projects across the region.

Coordinate with the fiber design team to identify conflicts, shared‑use opportunities, make‑ready needs, and joint trench configurations.

Conduct site assessments, field verifications, and GPS/photographic documentation as required.

Collaborate with electric utility engineers, internal project managers, field crews, and local jurisdictions to ensure design feasibility and constructability.

Communicate directly with customers, contractors, and stakeholders to gather service requirements, resolve issues, and support project execution.

Prepare bills of material, cost estimates, and project documentation in alignment with client standards.

Review as‑built drawings and support project closeout activities.

Maintain accurate records, project data, and schedule commitments.

Qualifications Required:

2–5+ years of experience in electric distribution design (overhead and/or underground).

Strong knowledge of utility equipment, distribution operations, conductor types, transformers, switches, protective devices, and construction methods.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, maps, easements, and field notes.

Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate across multiple teams.

Valid driver’s license and ability to perform occasional field work.

Preferred:

Experience coordinating joint‑use or fiber/coax attach projects.
