VA - Site Administrator Technician

ShawnTech Communications, Inc The role of the Site Administrator Technician is a dual role requiring both administrative and technical knowledge to complete day‑to‑day work activities in a correctional facility. This position requires strong data entry skills and technical expertise. The incumbent must have customer service experience to address phone calls and email correspondence from internal and external customers and will be the first point of contact for facility personnel regarding all tasks associated with the inmate call control systems.
Responsibilities
Troubleshoot, correct, and service issues with inmate technology systems, including basic telephone repair and maintenance.
Perform hardware troubleshooting, define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Be proficient with telephony and networking (copper, CAT 5/6, fiber optic wiring), including knowledge of wiring color codes and fabrication of data cabling.
Diagnose wiring issues, trace and repair or replace damaged cable, and repair 66‑Blocks or cutoff switches.
Maintain, repair, and operate onsite telecommunications and networking hardware, software, access points, and other electronic equipment and wiring at assigned inmate correctional facilities.
Meet all service requirements set forth by the customer contract.
Build and maintain working relationships with facility personnel and customer contacts; interface with correctional staff, vendors, and contractors to resolve onsite technical problems.
Exercise strong time‑management skills and control service‑related expenses.
Deliver service resolution in a timely and effective manner to ensure optimal system performance and high customer satisfaction.
Provide onsite instruction and training for site personnel as needed.
Operate in jail and prison environments while maintaining stringent security guidelines at all times.
Return damaged or inoperable equipment per Return Merchandise Authorization process.
Perform basic troubleshooting of tablet functionality, applications, and Wi‑Fi connectivity where applicable.
Safely drive company or personal vehicle to various facilities throughout the assigned state.
Be willing and able to travel daily to customer sites, with potential overnight trips.
Be willing and able to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime and after‑hours callouts.
Qualifications
2+ years of experience in telecommunications, including installation, repair, and troubleshooting of various telecommunication systems (telephones, video visitation systems, TTY or VRS units, Wi‑Fi/Access Points).
2+ years of experience with computer/network installation and repair; knowledge of VLANs, advanced network configurations, telecom, and VoIP a plus.
Strong organizational, interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills.
High School Diploma or GED; some college courses preferred.
Exceptional customer‑service skills.
Proficient in Windows OS, MS Office, and other software programs that may be required.
Must be able to lift or move up to 10 pounds frequently and occasionally up to 100 pounds with assistance.
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Daily travel throughout the assigned geographical area; overnight travel possible.
Must consistently pass criminal background screens.
