Job Details Location: 2 Broadway Type: Full Time Salary: $92,700 – $97,850
Position Objective Under the general direction of the Deputy EO Officer or the Director of Investigations, the Equal Opportunity Investigator will conduct moderately to complex, sensitive, and multi-faceted investigations for both internal employees and external applicants, customers, and communities pertaining to alleged discriminatory treatment, and assist with trend analysis and partnering with stakeholders to develop action planning.
Responsibilities
Fundamental Duties
Conduct thorough and timely Equal Opportunity investigations covering all protected classes, interview witnesses, review documents, and analyze data.
Prepare written reports and summaries of findings with supporting documentation, representing facts fairly and impartially.
Provide information for and attend discipline review meetings, as well as liaison with business units and HR.
Support internal and external Equal Opportunity investigations, complaints, inquiries, and charges; respond to external inquiries in partnership with Legal.
Conduct research and analysis to provide insight into environmental trends related to EEO complaints.
Other duties as assigned by senior management.
Specific Programmatic Responsibilities
Perform intake and identify scope of complaints; recommend interim measures when needed.
Compose investigative plans, determine witnesses, outline questions, plan document requests.
Interview witnesses and secure documentation to prove or disprove allegations.
Write investigative reports and make recommendations to the Chief Equal Opportunity Officer.
Conduct thorough analysis of evidence in accordance with applicable laws and internal policies.
Follow up on all new complaints in a manner; manage multiple intakes and investigations simultaneously.
Facilitate informal resolution of complaints; document efforts and conclusions.
Collaborate with Legal on investigations involving EEO Commission, Attorney General Offices, and New York State Human Rights Commission.
Communicate investigative factual determinations and analysis to complainants, subjects, and departments.
Input complaint data into the Master Complaint tracking database.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Strong knowledge of federal, state, city, and local nondiscrimination laws and regulations.
Strong investigative skills.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and ability to remain impartial.
Excellent critical thinking skills and ability to analyze information, evaluate results, and facilitate resolution of challenges.
Ability to manage issues of complex and extreme sensitivity with a high level of professionalism.
Demonstrated ability to organize and plan work to meet critical deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to prepare complex written reports and provide reliable testimony explaining investigation process and findings.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a team.
Required Education and Experience
BA/BS from an accredited college or university is required; a Juris Doctorate degree is preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience conducting thorough investigations relating to allegations of discrimination is required.
Other Information May need to work outside of normal work hours (evenings and weekends). Travel may be required to other MTA locations or external sites.
