Radiological Engineer

Edgewater Technical Associates, LLC seeks a qualified Radiological Engineer to design, implement, operate, and maintain radiological instrumentation and monitoring systems in Oak Ridge, TN. The role focuses on stack monitoring and airborne effluent measurement, ensuring regulatory compliance and supporting radiological safety programs. Key Responsibilities

Design, specify, evaluate, and maintain radiological instrumentation systems, including stack and effluent monitoring. Provide technical oversight for installation, calibration, testing, and troubleshooting of radiation detection and measurement equipment (gamma, alpha, beta, particulate). Support continuous and periodic stack monitoring systems for airborne radioactive emissions in compliance with NRC, EPA, DOE regulations. Develop and review engineering documentation, including system designs, calculations, procedures, specs, and technical reports. Analyze monitoring data and assess performance trends and regulatory compliance. Collaborate with operations, health physics, environmental compliance, and maintenance teams to ensure safe and compliant facility operations. Assist audits, inspections, and assessments by regulatory agencies. Support system upgrades, modernization projects, and new facility designs involving radiological monitoring. Conduct failure analysis, corrective actions, and root‑cause evaluations related to instrumentation issues. Maintain quality assurance and configuration management for monitoring systems. Basic Qualifications

Bachelor of Science or Engineering in Health Physics, engineering, or related field (or equivalent combination). 5–20+ years of relevant experience. Working knowledge of radiation detection instrumentation, applied radiation protection principles, and monitoring airborne radioactivity. Expertise in radiological regulations and standards. Ability to interpret technical drawings, specs, and regulatory requirements. Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and technical writing skills. Experience supporting nuclear facilities, laboratories, or radiological operations. Familiarity with continuous air monitors, isokinetic sampling systems, and effluent monitoring instrumentation. Other Requirements

Must be a U.S. Citizen. Physical work requirements and the ability to obtain and maintain an HSPD‑12 PIV badge. Application
