AmeriCorps
IKONC (Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, and North Carolina, pronounced "iconic") is a consortium of state civic engagement organizations based in higher education with the goals of educating students for active citizenship and partnering with communities for positive change. The four organizations are Community-Engaged Alliance (IN), EngageKY, Community Campus Coalition (OH), and North Carolina Campus Engagement. The IKONC organizations have partnered together to create the Communities Thriving VISTA project, which seeks to place VISTA members with nonprofit organizations in order to address poverty-related issues and create positive community outcomes. Communities Thriving VISTA members will serve with a local agency and work with community groups to benefit low‑income individuals and families. Communities Thriving is seeking VISTA Leaders to help lead and support 18 VISTA members throughout Kentucky, Ohio, North Carolina, and Indiana. This person should reside in one of the participating states. The anticipated start date for this position is January 2026. Must have previous experience in a national service program (i.e. AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, NCCC, etc.).
Member Duties:
Plan and facilitate member trainings.
Build team rapport through various communication methods (social media, webinars, in‑person gatherings, etc.).
Answer VISTA‑related questions (e.g., VISTA benefits, navigating VISTA project during their service year, etc.).
Recruit candidates to build the Communities Thriving VISTA cohort.
Support Communities Thriving staff with collecting VISTA reports and other documents.
Program Benefits: Living Allowance, Relocation Allowance, Health Coverage*, Childcare assistance if eligible, Education award upon successful completion of service, Training, Choice of Education Award or End‑of‑Service Stipend.
