National Team C2BMC Systems Engineer (Lead and Senior)

Position Overview Join the Command & Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) National Team Program to support the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) in Huntsville, AL or Colorado Springs, CO. This role is critical to defending the United States homeland and its regional allies worldwide.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with industry partners to develop and execute a comprehensive assessment program supporting the C2BMC element of BMDS.
Evaluate systems under various scenarios and architectures to determine and optimize overall mission performance, providing insight to the Missile Defense Agency and warfighters.
Perform analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture.
Develop and maintain analysis tools (modeling, simulation, and predictive performance tools) to predict performance against evolving threats.
Lead analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture.
Identify improvements for planning, organization, implementation, and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management, and technology readiness assessment processes.
Define, schedule, assign, and execute tasks to monitor integration and checkout activities, approving or disapproving results when requirements are met.
Serve as a subject matter expert for integration and test domains, system engineering performance, and system-specific issues, processes, tools, and regulations.
Lead efforts to solve complex missile‑defense problems using MBSE tools such as CAMEO or DOORS, system architect, and mathematical modeling and simulation to provide thought leadership and lead trade studies.
Develop, select, tailor, and deploy integration and test processes, tools, and metrics.
Execute and document integration and test activities and events.
Develop, define efficiencies, and improve tools to enhance team productivity.
Perform system analysis trade studies to define technical concepts and solutions.
This position requires exposure to a broad range of personnel within MDA and its associated sub‑elements.
Travel & Security Requirements
Travel may be required up to 10% of the time, domestically and/or internationally.
Access to an MDA facility requires a background investigation by U.S. government authorities.
Candidate acceptance by the industry partner resource control board is required.
Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required). A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
9+ years of work‑related engineering experience with a Bachelor’s, 7+ years with a Master’s, or 4+ years with a PhD.
3+ years of experience in system engineering (e.g., Systems, Design, Architecture, Integration, Requirements or Test).
Understanding of System Engineering and iterative product development using Agile practices.
Experience using analytical, collaboration, communication, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
14+ years of work‑related engineering experience with a Bachelor’s 12+ years with a Master’s, or 9+ years with a PhD.
Understanding of DoD and missile‑defense command & control, battle management architectures, communications concepts, mission context, and common system test/data analysis techniques.
Demonstrated experience with requirements verification and requirements analysis, including development and assessment of requirements traceability and verification artifacts.
Experience performing systems and performance analysis or trade studies (operational analysis, feasibility analysis, measures of effectiveness/technical performance, probability/discrimination analyses).
Experience modeling or simulating missile‑defense or related engagement domains (air/space/ballistic and non‑ballistic intercepts, sub‑orbital mechanics) and using simulation environments for concept evaluation.
Experience scripting/programming and automated‑test/tool development (MATLAB, Python, Java or similar) to develop analytical tools, automated test harnesses, or numerical models.
