Job Summary Functions in a project engineering technician capacity. Under general direction, supports engineering and design teams by developing and modifying technical deliverables. Applies foundational engineering principles and established design practices to create moderately complex design concepts and solutions. Utilizes digital tools and design software (e.g., CAD, BIM, 3D modeling) to create, modify, and maintain technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables. Provides technical guidance and may offer direction to other engineering professionals and technicians to ensure quality and consistency across project outputs.
Opportunity The BIM/CAD Coordinator will prepare and distribute the BIM/CAD Project Execution Plan, initiate BIM/CAD setup activities, oversee and participate in the day‑to‑day activities of project Technicians to review concepts, ideas, sketches and samples from the project engineering team and render complete and accurate systems in BIM/CAD models, working drawings, and/or other associated deliverables through the lifecycle of a project contract; including conceptual, preliminary, detailed design, construction services, and record as‑built drawings.
Key Responsibilities
Apply knowledge of standards, systems, document control, departmental guides, applicable codes and BV policies and procedures.
Review project requirements and accurately determine correct format and contents of required deliverables.
Proactively apply BV Quality Program to deliverables.
Demonstrate personal accuracy and support continuous improvement and change‑management efforts.
Review design inputs to ensure consistency.
Assist in ensuring deliverables are in compliance with specific codes and standards suitable for the project.
Apply basic engineering principles and established design practices in developing moderately complex design concepts and deliverables.
Make decisions with regard to deliverables and input interpretation.
Perform design calculations, detailed material quantities and estimates, and records.
Review deliverables of others; define work assignments; maintain schedules.
Coordinate with design group personnel to review and exchange project information for design development.
Support field activities; focus on internal client needs while understanding external client interests.
Proactively seek and share technology knowledge.
Preferred Qualifications Diploma or Certificate preferred. Associate Degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design Related Technology preferred.
Minimum Qualifications Typically a minimum of 5 years related work experience. All applicants must be able to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (criminal/civil background check, drug screen, motor vehicle records search) in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
