Pay Range Base pay range:
$66,951.00 per year – $85,138.00 per year
Duties Description
Application programming on existing Upstate and NYC WMS in the UNISYS 2200 – Mainframe environment on applications written in COBOL, including interactive screens and batch programs.
Application development and programming (code) and implement new applications which may include JAVA and .NET. Participate in projects to upgrade existing systems to conform to new technology standards.
Assist in systems analysis and design activities, including information gathering, documentation of existing systems and processes, and identification of alternative approaches to solving business problems.
Perform software testing and support user testing.
Provide user support including production problem resolution for existing applications and technology.
Qualifications
Open Competitive: A bachelor’s or higher-level degree including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science.
OR a bachelor’s or higher-level degree in any field and one year of experience in information technology.
OR 60 semester credit hours including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science and one year of professional experience in information technology.
OR two years of professional experience in information technology.
Promotion: Open to NYS employees with one year of permanent competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 1, SG 14.
Transfer: Open to NYS employees with one year of permanent competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 2 or Information Technology Specialist 2 Programming, G‑18; or in a title G‑16 or above deemed administrative under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law.
Position eligible for 55b/c designation; candidates are encouraged to apply.
Additional Information
Appointment to this position and continued employment is contingent upon obtaining and/or maintaining New York State residency within six months of hiring.
Appointment is not final until all agency approvals have been granted.
ITS will not offer permanent employment unless the candidate provides documentation that they are authorized to work permanently in the United States. F1 or H1 visa holders for permanent employment or non‑immigrant alien sponsorship are not accepted.
Some positions may require fingerprinting.
Some positions may require up to 25% travel and/or lifting up to 50 lbs.
