United Rentals, the world’s largest equipment rental provider, invites a dedicated United Academy Safety Trainer to advance a career with the industry leader. This role will design and deliver safety training that drives customer satisfaction and revenue growth.
What You’ll Do Customer Safety Training
Train customer employees on required safety programs on site.
Provide expertise on safety requirements based on the customer account.
Conduct train‑the‑trainer sessions for equipment operators covering Combo Forklift, Backhoe, Skid Steer, Excavator/Mini‑Excavator, Counterbalanced Forklift, Loader, Dozer, Boom Lift, Scissor Lift, and Fall Protection.
Coordinate instructor and operator training for all customer employees.
Internal Safety Training
Assist in evaluating United Rentals employees for safety courses.
Provide regional training support for internal evaluators and branch employees.
Promote the internal evaluating network.
Customer Qualification Process
Collaborate with sales, marketing, and operations to support customer‑facing safety requirements and communicate program progress.
Propose customized training packages that meet each customer’s unique needs.
Work with sales and customers to create training solutions, provide pricing, and negotiate to close opportunities.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of college education and work experience.
In select markets, bilingual Spanish may be required or preferred.
Minimum 2 years of experience conducting safety training for equipment operators.
Experience with train‑the‑trainer programs and formal safety education or training.
Mastery of company safety training programs and content delivery.
Knowledge of federal, state, provincial, and non‑regulatory safety codes (OSHA, FAA, MSHA, EPA, ANSI, NFPA, NEC, etc.).
MSHA knowledge for Aerial Work Platforms, Forklifts (Powered Industrial Trucks), New Miner, Annual Refresher, and Task Training.
Team facilitation skills and ability to work cross‑functionally.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational, prioritization, and time‑management abilities.
Sales skills: selling value over price and articulating training benefits to internal sales teams and customers.
Digital proficiency with mobile forms and basic MS Office.
Preferred knowledge of Salesforce.com.
Valid driver’s license.
Approximately 70 % travel.
Ability to lift over 20 lb if required.
This position is deemed Safety Sensitive for United Rentals’ policies and procedures.
