Lead Information System Security Officer (ISSO) Dark Wolf Solutions is seeking a Lead Information System Security Officer (ISSO) to lead a collaborative team to develop, manage, and maintain information system security assessment and authorization (A&A) packages. The role supports planning, execution, and monitoring of the seven‑step RMF process for our customers, ensuring high security and compliance standards. Based out of San Antonio, TX, the position offers hybrid/remote opportunities.

Responsibilities

Lead a team of ISSOs, managing tasking, schedule, and quality of work.

Serve as the primary point of contact for the customer and flow down information to the team.

Advise customers on cybersecurity best practices and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

Create, manage, and maintain A&A packages, including System Security Plans (SSPs), Security Control Traceability Matrices (SCTMs), Plans of Action & Milestones (POA&Ms), and other artifacts.

Support entry and maintenance of data in information system security systems of record, such as eMASS or Xacta.

Drive cybersecurity activities through all phases of the system life cycle, ensuring proper hardening and security analysis to protect CIA.

Brief ISSMs/SCAs/AOs on the cyber posture of information systems.

Manage and implement Continuous Monitoring activities, including periodic reviews of controls, audits, vulnerability scans, and penetration test reports.

Develop POA&Ms to compile and track system vulnerabilities, mitigation efforts, remediation, and closures; provide fix actions and compensating controls.

Maintain POA&Ms, including reviews and stakeholder briefings as needed.

Required Qualifications

Experience leading a team of cybersecurity professionals.

10+ years of relevant cyber experience.

Experience assessing technical environments and translating security controls into clear NIST SP 800‑53 control narratives and ATO documentation.

Familiarity with a cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

Experience as an RMF Engineer, ISSO, and/or information assurance engineer.

Hands‑on eMASS or Xacta experience completing full system lifecycle activities.

Experience with NIST 800‑53 Rev‑5 and CNSSI 1253.

Experience with Air Force risk‑management policies/procedures, including DODI 8510.01, AFI 17‑101, Fast‑Track ATO Handbook & AF Continuous ATO Playbook.

Clear articulation of ideas for executive‑level consumption.

Ability to apply prior experience to new situations, especially during client interactions.

B.A. or B.S. in Information Security, Computer Science, or related discipline; or three years of equivalent industry experience.

U.S. citizenship and a TS/SCI security clearance.

Desired Qualifications

Knowledgeable with the Air Force A&A process and requirements.

Knowledge of SIEM tools such as Splunk or Elastic.

Knowledgeable with DoD DevSecOps Fundamentals Playbook.

Experience with DoD Fast‑Track ATO Handbook & Air Force Continuous ATO Playbook methodologies.

The estimated salary range for this position is $150,000.00 – $170,000.00, commensurate with experience and technical skill set.
