Overview
We’re in search of an highly experienced Scrum Master for our Fortune 500 client. This Scrum Master is not a traditional project manager. They are a delivery leader, Agile coach, and execution optimizer for one or more software development teams. Their job is to ensure teams consistently deliver high-quality software, remove obstacles that slow teams down, coach teams, Product Owners, and leadership on how to work effectively in Agile at scale (SAFe), make work, progress, risks, and results highly visible and measurable, and drive continuous improvement, not just “run ceremonies.”
Think of this role as someone who is accountable for how work gets delivered, not what is delivered.
Day to Day Duties
Facilitate all Agile ceremonies (Sprint Planning, Standups, Reviews, Retros, PI events)
Help teams break work into deliverable pieces and estimate effectively
Manage dependencies and blockers across teams
Ensure work flows smoothly from idea to production
Turn teams into self-organizing, self-managing, high‑performing units
Identify Agile anti‑patterns and correct behaviors (overcommitment, poor refinement, waterfall habits)
Teach problem‑solving, root‑cause analysis, and improvement techniques
Mentor Product Owners (especially backlog quality and prioritization)
Own sprint, release, and flow metrics
Analyze data (velocity, flow efficiency, burnup/down)
Translate metrics into actionable improvements
Maintain an improvement backlog and ensure changes actually stick
Prepare teams for PI Planning and ART events
Support Agile adoption across multiple teams
Partner closely with leadership and other Scrum Masters
Provide insights on delivery risks and organizational improvement
Understand what the team is building and why it matters
Understand the general system architecture (web/mobile, Angular/Ionic)
Translate technical realities into business‑friendly language
Core Skill Set Required
Agile & SAFe mastery (non‑negotiable)
Deep practical experience with Scrum, Kanban, XP
Strong understanding of SAFe / Agile Release Trains
Bachelors degree required; 7+ years experience performing in multiple agile roles in software development
SAFe Scrum Master (SSM), Certified Scrum Professional (CSP), Professional Scrum Master (PSM), or other leading agile certification is required
Jira and Confluence experience
Working with Web and Mobile Development teams (Ionic, Angular)
Ability to adapt frameworks, not blindly follow them
Delivery leadership (not admin work)
Strong group facilitation (especially conflict, retros, root‑cause sessions)
Trusted advisor to Product Owners and managers
Strong with Agile metrics (velocity, flow, burnup/down)
Communicates clearly to technical and non‑technical stakeholders
Comfortable in Fortune 500 / large‑enterprise environments
