Job Description Must be able to work on long‑term assignment at Concord, CA work site.

Are you interested in making the world a safer place through your expertise and experience with unexploded ordnance (UXO)? If so, Parsons has an opportunity for you! We need your help with the reconnaissance, classification, and removal of UXO from affected communities.

The Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) Technician will provide technical support and set standards for UXO personnel conducting ordnance response projects. Responsibilities include reconnaissance, classification, disposal, transport, and storage of UXO in compliance with federal, state, and local laws, performing risk‑hazard analysis, maintaining equipment, and planning and supervising range clearance operations. The UXO Technician I will assist in performing reconnaissance and classification of UXO, identify U.S. and foreign guided missiles, bombs and bomb fuses, projectile and grenade fuses, rockets and rocket fuses, land mines and associated components, pyrotechnic items, military explosives, and demolition materials. The role also requires locating subsurface UXO with magnetometers, performing excavation procedures, maintaining magnetometers, transporting and storing UXO, preparing non‑electric and electric firing systems, disposing ammunition/explosives by burning, operating detonation, decontamination stations, and inspecting salvage UXO‑related material.

Responsibilities

Investigate for and identify MEC and MPPEH, including explosive residues in media such as soil and buildings.

Identify different types of military munitions, determine whether a munition’s fuse is armed or unarmed.

Excavate subsurface anomalies for identification.

Move (consolidate) MEC within a munitions response site or on an operational range when risk of movement is acceptable.

Operate vehicles moving explosives or MPPEH; must hold appropriate license for vehicle class.

Transport military munitions, commercial explosives, and MDEH that meet safety criteria and comply with DOT, state laws, and DoD policies.

Prepare electric and non‑electric firing systems.

Set up decontamination stations and decontaminate personnel and materials contaminated with CA; additional training may be required.

Assist UXOQP in documenting explosives safety status of MPPEH.

Construct engineering controls (protective works).

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited UXO Technician I school.

Salary Range: $15.68 - $71.30 per hour.
