Location: Orlando, Florida.

Responsibilities

Demonstrate excellent communication and customer service skills.

Relay technical information and direction to owners, applicants, contractors, and municipal clients in a manner understandable to each audience.

Respond to inquiries regarding compliance with electrical codes.

Implement enforcement procedures to correct violations under the direction of the client’s jurisdiction.

Act as an effective team player, utilizing collaborative decision‑making to resolve issues or conflicts in a timely manner.

Engage with client jurisdictions, developers, architects, engineers, and contractors regarding code compliance for proposed and current construction projects.

Coordinate with client jurisdictions and their inspection staff to streamline processes, identify issues, and resolve conflicts ensuring timely and clear city decisions.

Use effective oral and written communication skills.

Prepare written work products such as correction notices or correspondence to property owners and contractors outlining necessary corrections to assure code compliance.

Occasionally perform technical inspections and/or plan reviews for commercial and residential structures and systems, ensuring compliance with electrical codes.

Participate in discussions concerning code interpretations.

Attend training to improve technical, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Respond to inquiries from client jurisdictions, developers, architects, engineers, contractors, and the public regarding code, regulation, and process interpretations.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with city clients, staff, builders, designers, and the public.

Analyze complex issues and make timely decisions.

Perform plan reviews for residential and commercial plans for conformance with applicable codes while providing high‑level customer service.

Perform other related duties as assigned by the Manager.

Education / Experience

State of Florida Professional Engineer (PE); or

State of Florida Plan Review License (PX) in building, electrical, mechanical, and/or plumbing; or

State of Florida Inspector License (BN) in building, electrical, mechanical, and/or plumbing; or

ICC Residential & Commercial Plans Examiner and/or Inspection certification in building, electrical, mechanical, and/or plumbing; or

Possession of the Journeyman M/E/P Certificate and four years of experience as a Journeyman electrician.

Must have knowledge of the Florida Building Code and other related regulations.

Compensation & Benefits Salary: Commensurate with experience and licensure.
