Role This position requires a person with extensive practical and technical knowledge and experience with various NDT Test Methods and the associated specification requirements. This individual will be the technical lead for their respective NDT discipline and will work with minimal supervision, interfacing with all levels of management within the company and suppliers. In addition, they will work extensively with Navy customers, particularly SOS and the NAVSEA Tech Warrant Holder.
Responsibilities
Train, examine and certify NDT personnel, ensuring competence and qualification to perform applicable tests in conformance with Company and contractual requirements.
Provide technical support to resolve technical issues and develop, interpret, adapt, qualify, and implement specifications, procedures, and processes.
Approve NDT procedures and workmanship standards, and ensure adequacy of the program.
Develop and administer NDT personnel training and certification programs.
Provide counseling/corrective guidance regarding examination performance, and decertify or retrain/test personnel as appropriate.
Conduct site monitoring/surveillance of NDT personnel and operations; evaluate program elements; perform product re‑inspection activities.
Interpret applicable specifications, procedures, and other technical requirements.
Compile and prepare technical and interpretive reports on NDT‑detected workmanship trends, reject rates, problem resolution, and impact of methodology changes on manufacturing and inspection operations.
Supplier Team Responsibilities
Approve NNS Suppliers’ NDT procedures and workmanship standards, ensuring program adequacy.
Conduct site monitoring/surveillance of NNS Suppliers’ NDT personnel and operations; evaluate program elements; perform product re‑inspection activities.
Interpret specifications, procedures, and other technical requirements.
Compile and prepare technical and interpretive reports on NNS Suppliers’ performance.
Provide technical support to resolve technical issues and develop, interpret, adapt, qualify, and implement specifications, procedures, and processes.
Must Have Certified Nondestructive Test Examiner certification (ASNT Level III or NAVSEA 250‑1500‑1 Test Examiner) and six years of relevant experience in inspection, test, or quality roles.
