Trial Attorney I – Position & Responsibilities

Defend clients in low-level misdemeanors, mental commitment hearings and fugitive warrant cases in magistrate court.

Represent clients in magic

Prepare and present legal arguments in appeals to district court.

Draft motions, briefs, and other legal documents, ensuring compliance with procedures and deadlines.

Negotiate with prosecutors to secure favorable plea agreements or dismissals.

Conduct client interviews and decisions regarding bail, release, and mental competency.

Work within the Case Management System (CMS) to document case work and timekeeping.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Trial Attorney I – Minimum Qualifications

Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Licensed or eligible to be licensed to practice law in Idaho within six months; must pass the bar on the first attempt.

Trial Attorney II – Position & Responsibilities

Defend clients in all misdemeanor criminal and juvenile delinquency cases, mental commitment hearings, and specialty court proceedings.

Represent clients in appeals to district court.

Draft and file motions, briefs, and other legal documents.

Negotiate plea agreements or dismissals with prosecutors.

Appear in court to argue motions, represent clients at hearings, and conduct bench or jury trials.

Collaborate with investigators, social workers, and expert witnesses.

Exercise independent judgment in managing caseloads.

Provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced attorneys.

Stay current on relevant laws and continue legal education.

Conduct legal research and write memoranda.

Use CMS for case and timekeeping documentation.

Other duties as assigned.

Trial Attorney II – Minimum Qualifications

Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Licensed to practice in Idaho in good standing.

Trial Attorney II – Preferred Qualifications

1‑2 years of experience as a practicing attorney or a 1‑2 year judicial clerkship.

Trial Attorney III – Position & Responsibilities

Defend clients in low-level felony criminal and delinquency cases, including burglary and drug possession, and in child protective act cases.

Represent clients in felony specialty court proceedings.

Draft and file motions, briefs, and other legal documents.

Negotiate plea agreements or dismissals.

Appear in court to argue motions and conduct bench or jury trials.

Collaborate with investigators, social workers, and expert witnesses.

Exercise independent judgment in managing cases.

Provide mentorship to attorneys.

Prepare or oversee legal writing for motions and briefs.

Perform research and analysis of case data.

Use CMS for documentation and timekeeping.

Other duties as assigned.

Trial Attorney III – Minimum Qualifications

Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Licensed to practice in Idaho in good standing.

1‑2 years of experience practicing as an attorney or clerking.

Trial Attorney III – Preferred Qualifications

At least 3 years of experience practicing criminal law.

Trial Attorney IV – Position & Responsibilities

Represent clients in serious felony criminal and delinquency cases including sexual assault, rape, lewd and lascivious conduct, and homicide.

Represent juveniles tried in adult court.

Handle cases independently with minimal supervision.

May train, supervise, or oversee other attorneys.

Draft and file legal documents, negotiate with prosecutors, and appear in court.

Collaborate with investigative and expert teams.

Stay current on laws and provide mentorship.

Use CMS for case and timekeeping.

Other duties as assigned.

Trial Attorney IV – Minimum Qualifications

Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Licensed to practice in Idaho in good standing.

3‑5 years of experience as an attorney.

Trial Attorney IV – Preferred Qualifications

At least 5 years of experience in the practice of criminal law.

Trial Attorney V – Position & Responsibilities

Represent clients in the most serious felony and capital cases, including capital mitigation.

Lead and direct teams of investigators, experts, and mitigation specialists.

Prepare and present appeals and capital mitigation arguments.

Negotiate plea agreements or dismissals.

Appear in court for motions, hearings, and trials.

Mentor and supervise attorneys.

Stay current on laws and lead legal research.

Use CMS for documentation and timekeeping.

Other duties as assigned.

Trial Attorney V – Minimum Qualifications

Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Licensed to practice in Idaho in good standing.

5‑10 years of experience as an attorney.

Trial Attorney V – Preferred Qualifications

At least 10 years of experience practicing criminal law.
