SHIPPING LEAD
position available at our La Vergne TN manufacturing facility. This is an
ON SITE
position.

Position Summary This position assists Shipping Leadership in directing the activities of employees engaged in outbound floor operations. The Shipping Lead is responsible for modeling best practices, seeking continuous improvement in assigned areas, and advocating for their team members.
This role is a liaison between floor team members and leadership. A knowledgeable, approachable, and a willing advocate for the team to ensure their needs and concerns are heard.
Position Responsibilities
Focused on On‑time and complete delivery
Ensure customer’s unique logistics requirements are known, shared, and followed.
Ensure carrier drops pickups and swaps are dispatched and executed timely.
Familiarity with the customer’s unique labeling, packaging and bill of lading requirements and help ensure the requirements are always met.
Ensure sufficient staffing assignments to pick, label and QC loads prior to appointment time.
Assist with cross‑training and cascading job assignments so floor team members remain engaged in priority activities throughout the shift.
Requesting shipping supplies and materials as needed.
Cross train for absences.
Understand and enforce good inventory stewardship (correct moves recorded timely).
Ensures full compliance with all quality assurance standards, especially good housekeeping and overall cleanliness of products and work areas.
Pick and loading accuracy
Knowledge and enforcement of safety policies and procedures.
Other duties as assigned
Ensuring all loading procedures are followed including trailer inspection, verification of staged load prior to loading, optimization of trailer loading, and securing load for transport.
Reporting trouble tickets as related to transportation (carrier no‑show, overflow, etc.) to office for customer follow up.
Assist with load verification ensuring all staged goods are correctly positioned and each load is complete per load sheets or other load guidance.
Assist with driver check in according to company policy.
Ensure all rental pallet counts are reported to the office for accurate and timely reporting.
Coordinates priority item receipt and unloading to ensure goods are cross‑docked when applicable.
Ensures timely and safe unloading meeting companies daily goals for movement.
Reports receiving or product issues and works for timely resolution.
Ensures receiving lane inventory accuracy
Works closely with JPH Shipping team to resolve any discrepancies or questions.
Ensures timely and responsible put away and consolidation of goods received.
Approval The Executive Team (CEO, Controller, Chief Marketing and Merchandising Officer, VP of Operations, Human Resources) will be involved in all hires. Team determines need, Human Resources will facilitate the process and select candidates, Controller will verify budget for the position. The position’s direct manager will also be part of the interviewing and decision‑making process as well as a possible peer.
Position Requirements
Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written – bi‑lingual preferred
Understanding of and the ability to abide by applicable OSHA and environmental regulations.
Previous experience working in a shipping department in a manufacturing environment
Strong work ethic and attention to detail
Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs; ability to lead others through change.
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Skill in organization and prioritization, and attention to detail.
Inside Customers Sales Team, Operations Team, Quality team, Shipping, Receiving
Work Environment Will spend significant time on the loading dock with some exposure to noise and climate. Must be able to perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
