This position is primarily responsible for overseeing import and export trade operations from a compliance standpoint by performing the following duties. Job Duties & Responsibilities
Manages and updates all policies and procedures related to import and export trade compliance, including annual updates to the Compliance Manual. Maintains transparent communication through department meetings, one‑on‑one meetings, and appropriate email or instant messaging. Periodically provides training to employees regarding relevant procedures and how their positions may impact compliance issues. Audits record‑keeping files and LACE to ensure records noted in the record‑keeping checklist are being maintained. Fields internal trade compliance questions from Lamex employees, external partners, and regulatory/government agencies. Maintains tariff classification and rulings folder with support for determination and update of the classification database and LACE system. Obtains quota for Canadian poultry imports annually and maintains related information and documentation, including transfers between companies. On a semiannual basis, conducts random sample representing 5% of all US imports and exports to confirm tariff classifications and reported values are correct and relevant documentation is in the file, reporting identified discrepancies to CBP and CBSA as appropriate. Manages the American Goods Returned “AGR” Program and reviews the AGR checklist to ensure required documentation supporting claims is in the file. Maintains regular, continual contact with foreign suppliers providing products for import, refreshing them on these programs with documentation and training. Presents compliance programs to customers on commercial visits for commercial value, understands organic compliance and what is required, maintains Lamex organic certifications, and confirms validity of organic certificates with certification bodies. Arranges sampling and testing of poultry supplied to Vietnam pet treat manufacturers, registers and maintains trademarks. Ensures certificates of liability insurance are on file for all transportation companies used in US and Canada; checks each for compliance twice per year. Monitors new suppliers and customers to ensure they are not part of a government Sanction List or FDA Alert List. Maintains relationship with Customs Brokers. Assists with any audit or penalty review as necessary. Maintains documentation supporting any compliance audits conducted by the department. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred. 2+ years of experience in trade, compliance, logistics, or a related field preferred. Strong organizational skills. Excellent communication skills. High attention to detail. Salary Range
$60,000 - $80,000 Annual
