Purpose of the Job The Predictive Maintenance (PDM) Technician is responsible for collecting predictive maintenance data (vibration, oil analysis, ultrasound, infrared, etc) analyzes, charts, and creates technical reporting for strategic maintenance decision‑making. The PDM Technician also performs maintenance duties at a skill level equivalent to A Class‑Mechanic.

The Predictive Maintenance (PDM) Technician is a key contributor to the continuous improvements of critical plant performance metrics in the areas of safety, productivity, cost, quality and sustainability. This role is essential to the successful operations of the Savannah Roofing site. The PDM Technician is an hourly position reporting to Maintenance Leader.

Job Responsibilities

Lives the Owens Corning Safety Stand and meets all safety requirements. Utilizes all LTT principles as required. Safety is a condition of employment.

Participates in the safety, autonomous maintenance, TPM and housekeeping programs as established within the plant; including but not limited to Focused Improvement Events, Safety Committee, etc.

Performs job tasks to reduce environmental impact and adheres to the environmental regulations and recycling procedures for waste disposal.

Complies with all plant rules and safety regulations.

Communicates safety concerns and/or equipment problems/abnormalities to appropriate personnel.

Notify your Front Line Leader immediately of all injuries, near misses, or first aid.

Understands all regulations for safety harness protection

Understands lock-out/tag-out procedures for energy sources. Can identify energy sources for each machine and correctly de-energize the machine for maintenance procedures

Performs all functions of the job in a safe manner and promptly reports any unsafe behaviors to the Maintenance Foreman.

Route creation, data collection, analysis and technical reporting with regard to vibration, infrared, ultrasound, and lubrication systems in facility.

Maintain accurate, up-to-date predictive maintenance database records, and update programs as needed.

Provide sound corrective action and planning information using trend analysis, and predictive methodologies.

Replace or repair equipment and/or component parts as required.

Inspect the equipment to determine condition and state of repair.

Electrical systems analysis-check for hot spots with thermography equipment.

Perform mechanical maintenance.

Replacement of hydraulic components including valves, pumps, cylinders, etc.

Assembles, disassembles or installs mechanical equipment working from engineering drawings, field sketches, other related documents, and verbal field instructions needed to perform assigned duties.

Must be proficient in all machine shop equipment, hand tools, power tools and precision instruments.

Job Requirements Computer and Software Competencies

Navigate SAP Work Order System proficiently

Database creation and technical reporting

Utilize a keyboard to routinely take online coursework, check emails, PeopleSoft (paycheck and benefits information portal)

Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required

Two or more year of manufacturing experience strongly preferred

Must be 18 years or older

Must be a US citizen or have the right to work in the US

Must remain drug and alcohol free

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Must read, write and speak English

Must understand verbal and written instructions

Must possess strong communication and organizational skills

Must be able to follow proper radio etiquette

Must work well in a team environment

Must have the ability to multi-task

Must have the ability to do basic mathematical calculations

Must have a minimum of 3 years of industrial maintenance experience

Must have basic knowledge of industrial electrical operations

Must be willing and able to train others on advanced craft or controls related skills

Must learn new controls technologies and systems as required throughout plant

Must pass the written and practical test in electrical, mechanical, machine shop, and welding

Must attend internal and external training school

SAP experience a plus
