Job Overview The
Maintenance Technician – Parks
position performs skilled manual work and specialized equipment operation in the construction, maintenance, and repair of parks facilities and grounds. This is a full‑time, 40‑hour per week position and may required to work weekends and additional hours depending on seasonal demand and vacation coverage. The technician will respond to emergency call‑out situations as necessary.
Responsibilities
Repair and maintain municipal buildings, set‑up playing fields, mow and edge grass, rake leaves, prune and trim trees, plant and maintain flower beds, apply chemicals and fertilizers, and remove brush and trash.
Repair and maintain irrigation systems.
Perform safety inspections of playground equipment and grounds and make necessary repairs.
Assist with the general maintenance and repair of buildings, facilities, and structures involving basic carpentry, mechanical, plumbing and painting.
Perform routine janitorial services, which include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, and removing trash.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalency and one (1) year of grounds, landscape or sport field repair, maintenance and construction experience. Municipal experience preferred. Working with the public desired.
Licenses and Certificates
Valid Washington State Driver's License required.
Additional licenses and certificates may be required:
CDL, Class A
Washington State Department of Transportation Traffic Flagging Certification
Pesticide Operators
First Aid/CPR
NIPSI (National Institute for Playground Safety Inspector)
ISA Certified Arborist
Selection Process

If you are a CDL holder, a pre‑employment CDL query must be completed by the employer as required by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).
