Incoming Inspector / Quality Technician

Location: Greenville, Michigan

Reports to: Quality Manager

Salary: Hourly Non-Exempt

Middleby Refrigeration is seeking a detail-oriented Incoming Inspector to support our Quality team in Greenville, MI. This role is responsible for inspecting incoming raw materials and components to ensure they meet engineering specifications and quality standards before being released to production. The ideal candidate has a strong eye for detail, is comfortable working with measurement tools and technical documentation, and understands the importance of quality in a manufacturing environment. This position plays a critical role in preventing defects, maintaining product integrity, and supporting uninterrupted production flow across our U-Line, Marvel, and Viking Refrigeration brands.

Expected Hours Of Work This position is full-time. The general scheduled workdays are Monday through Thursday 10‑hour shifts.

Position Overview The Incoming Inspector / Quality Technician is responsible for inspecting incoming raw materials and components to ensure they meet established quality standards and engineering specifications. This role performs visual and dimensional inspections, interprets technical documentation, and documents inspection results to prevent non‑conforming material from entering production. The Incoming Inspector / Quality Technician plays a critical role in supporting product integrity, supplier quality, and uninterrupted production flow while ensuring compliance with company quality systems and safety standards.

Responsibilities

Perform incoming inspections by conducting visual, dimensional, and functional checks using appropriate measuring tools, including calipers, gauges, and other inspection equipment.

Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, purchase orders, and work instructions to ensure materials meet required standards.

Accurately document inspection results, measurements, discrepancies, and quality issues in designated systems and records.

Identify non‑conforming material and generate Non‑Conformance Reports (NCRs) in accordance with quality procedures.

Collaborate with the Supplier Quality Engineer and cross‑functional teams to address non‑conforming material (NCM) and support corrective actions.

Approve and release accepted materials for production, ensuring proper identification, labeling, traceability, and documentation.

Perform additional tasks as assigned to support quality and production goals.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required; technical training or quality‑related coursework preferred

Previous experience in quality inspection or manufacturing environment preferred

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications

Proficiency using inspection and measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)

Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy

Basic computer skills, including data entry and Microsoft Office

Effective communication and teamwork skills

Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 lbs. in a manufacturing environment

Must pass pre‑employment drug screen and background check
