Materials Coordinator
Townsen Memorial Hospital is looking for a Materials Coordinator to join our River Oaks Surgical Team in Houston, Texas (77027).
SUMMARY The Materials Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that the facility is properly stocked with all supplies by implementing, measuring, and directing supply chain activities within the operating room/surgical services. The Materials Coordinator is primarily responsible for supporting OR operations through inventory management and fostering a collaborative environment between the supply chain and the clinical surgical services team members.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Lead the facility’s operating room needs including requisitioning, inventory controls, instrument acquisition, and supply optimization.
Effectively cultivate relationships with physicians, clinicians, and hospital vendors.
Source vendors and products to locate specialized equipment, supplies, and services as requested by the medical staff and approved by the administration team.
Coordinate the placement of purchase orders in a timely manner when requisitioned by various departments.
Continuously communicate with the Operating Room Manager/Team Lead regarding special procedures and work with the clinical staff to establish appropriate Min/Max Inventory Levels for all supplies.
Verify accurate pricing when orders are placed and confirm accurate pricing on invoices, working with accounting to ensure correctly priced invoices are paid and discrepancies are corrected timely.
Verify that packing slips and purchase orders have been reconciled, addressing any discrepancies with the vendor in a timely fashion.
Proactively review schedules and patient census to foresee any unusual high or low demand of supplies and order accordingly.
Review files and records regarding orders and back orders at intervals to ensure timely delivery and determine delays, keeping users informed.
Monitor and compare supply prices, demonstrating an understanding of cost-effective purchasing choices, and search regularly for the best priced items or possible vendor changes.
Record and assess all materials quality, movement, and expenditure, ensuring all equipment/instruments that leave the facility are logged and properly returned timely.
Prepare and file detailed records on procurement activity, quantity, and vendors; maintain files in accordance with Hospital Policy and Procedures; maintain records of warranties and contracts with vendors; maintain supplies and records for bio-hazardous waste management.
Perform other related duties as assigned to support the hospital.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of appropriate vendors from whom to obtain requested equipment and supplies.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED.
Six (6) months in materials management in the Operating Room or Surgical Services.
BLS certified or must complete certification within 90 days of hire.
COMPENSATION Compensation to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
BACKGROUND CHECK Employment for this position is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check and drug screening.
