Datadog
Engineering Manager - Security Incident Response
The Security Incident Response team is part of our Resilience Engineering organization and plays a vital role in keeping Datadog safe. Our goal is to ensure Datadog is prepared for and efficiently responds to security‑related incidents, containing threats to our systems and data as quickly as possible. We also partner with teams after incidents to turn them into learning opportunities and focus on adapting and fixing systemic problems, contributing toward a culture of building resilience in our people and systems. What You'll Do
Lead and mentor a team of experienced incident responders who are passionate about building a culture of security and resilience at Datadog. Help engineers grow and provide them continuous development opportunities. Serve as a hands‑on leader during incidents, making decisions under pressure and collaborating across teams to drive toward resolution. Be on‑call in our secondary rotation (along with around five other leaders). Ensure the team consistently triages alerts and signals in Datadog Cloud SIEM, partnering with our Threat Detection team to tune and calibrate these signals so they deliver value. Build tools, systems, and processes that mature Datadog's security incident response capabilities and measure operational capabilities for stakeholders. Lead post‑incident analysis efforts so that engineers learn from security incidents, ensuring postmortems are blameless and actionable. Capture follow‑up items that repair systemic issues and prevent repeated patterns. Partner with Datadog’s product management team by providing feature feedback and championing improvement areas. Collaborate with other security teams to develop strategies and plans to prevent future incidents. Who You Are
2–3 years experience as a people manager or technical leader with strong mentorship skills, including career development, performance management, team velocity, OKRs, and hiring into diverse and inclusive organizations. 3–5 years experience in incident response, especially security‑related incidents, with strong ownership, comfort working under pressure, and ability to return Datadog to a stable state when failures occur. Technical pragmatism and ability to help the team reason about trade‑offs, reviewing decisions and RFCs from senior engineers, blending technical and business acumen. Strong distributed systems knowledge, ability to read postmortems, and build credibility with technical stakeholders. Strong stakeholder management skills: empathy, collaboration, and communication in English, motivating teams across Datadog toward shared goals. Datadog values people from all walks of life. We understand not everyone will meet all the above qualifications on day one. If you’re passionate about technology and want to grow your skills, we encourage you to apply. Benefits and Growth
