Responsibilities
Assist families in crisis through DCFS programs including Family Habilitation Services, Visitation, and Housing.
Help families comply with court‑ordered program participation and work through difficult situations.
Provide transportation for parents and/or children to and from supervised visitation sites.
Work directly with families in the home, teaching and demonstrating homemaking skills, parenting skills, anger management, and effective resource utilization.
Supervise or observe visitation, redirecting interactions as necessary.
Prepare written reports, maintain accurate records, and submit client progress reports monthly (scheduled dates, goals, outcomes, and recommendations).
Report all cases of child abuse and neglect.
Attend all mandated trainings.
For families or emancipated foster children in the housing program, locate housing, jobs, and other community supports for independent living.
Requirements & Competencies
High school diploma or GED (required).
Associates degree or at least 2 years of child welfare experience (required).
Minimum age 21 years.
Background in social work, child care, or working with families (preferred).
Dependable automobile, valid driver's license, and proof of auto insurance.
Must pass required background checks.
Benefits
Pay is $17 per hour.
Daily pay available for select positions.
Flexible schedule—full‑time and part‑time available.
Direct deposit.
Reimbursement for mileage $0.70 per mile.
Medical, hospitalization, vision, and dental coverage through employer‑sponsored minimum essential plan.
Eligible to enroll in employer‑sponsored retirement plan after 6 months of service (for those 21+).
Accrued paid time off (up to 40 hours per year based on hours worked).
Holiday pay benefits for all DCFS employees who average at least 25 hours over a three‑month period.
