What You'll Do
Oversees all product QC testing and related activities
Maintains and ensures that the lab is contributing toward producing the best quality bar by reviewing samples, product chemistry and overall operational processes
Guarantees timely and accurate test results from the lab
Responsible for receiving, tracking, assessing and responding to customer complaints or issues
Maintains and calibrates lab equipment to ensure in working order, ensuring reliability and accuracy of analytical and measuring devices
Responsible for day-to-day implementation of quality system, including hold/release decision, retesting, etc
Provides the tools and resources necessary to foster an atmosphere of continuous improvement and employee development in the QA Lab
Serves as the customer interface for quality items, including customer visits and problem-solving activities
Reviews customer specifications for application of products
Achieves and maintains certification from outside accreditation agencies, including but not limited to, NTPEP, ISO, ABS, State DOT's
Attends ACI, ASTM, and CRSI meetings to ensure company is represented at the organizations and serves on committees as needed
Maintain a continuous focus on cost and cost improvement including employee hours
Provides tools and training to develop employees in the quality process, serving as a true business partner in developing solutions
Work with managers and employees to identify root cause of customer complaints and implement corrective actions
Develop and lead a Safety Culture that is consistent with CMC standards
Implement and maintain all Job Safety Analysis and Work Instruction documents for the department
Provides guidance and direction to staff including hiring, disciplinary action, staff development, goal formulation and performance review
Ensures compliance with employment laws and regulations, minimizing the company's exposure to adverse outcomes of complaints, litigation, audits and inspections
Participate in the CMC Safety Programs and proactively uphold the CMC Safety Culture
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and CMC standards on all projects
Build and maintain positive working relationships at varying levels
Exhibits integrity and trust as well as respect for the individual through strong moral character, demonstrating leadership and communication skills
What You'll Need
Minimum 1 year Supervisory experience required
Minimum 2 years steel mill experience in a hands-on environment preferred
Experience with measuring devices (tapes, micrometer, inside outside calipers, etc)
Exceptional leadership and team building skills
Effective listening and communication skills (verbal and written)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate up, down, and across the business
Organizational skills for keeping track of various budgets, employees and schedules simultaneously.
Possess strong data analytical skills, an understanding of lean manufacturing methods and a familiarity with production management systems
Displays a positive, can-do attitude; maintains composure when faced with difficult situations
Ability to work flexible hours and be available as needed by the business
Ability to stand for duration of shift; frequent physical activity such as walking, climbing stairs or reaching to work with equipment throughout the entire shift
Your Education
Bachelor's Degree in Metallurgy, Engineering or equivalent work experience in area of specialty preferred
Minimum 5 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required
