Junior Estimator
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Junior Estimator should have a foundational, working knowledge of building materials and understand the requirements for various construction projects. They will focus on non-self-performing work, interacting with subcontractors for bids. This position assists Estimators in the preconstruction process to gather information and data.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
2 – 5 years of estimating experience in heavy industrial, water treatment, or civil construction
Bachelor’s degree in construction management or engineering; or equivalent experience
Currently living in the St. Louis metro area
Knowledge of estimating and scheduling software (Primavera P6, Bluebeam, etc) and proficiency in Microsoft Word systems
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operate with an understanding of the project demands and needed resources to handle non-self-performing work
Work with subcontractors to send bid invites and review bids received
Maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors
Conduct research to obtain data and gather information on costs
Collect metrics, review documents, and assist with building a timeline
Collect key construction documents, such as property plans, blueprints, technical drawings, and project specifications
Assist in communications with suppliers, contractors, vendors, and materials for projects
Make visits to construction sites, warehouses, and other such venues to gather insights about the project
Assist in developing a work schedule for project completion
Assist with material takeoff and apply current pricing knowledge
Build relationships and maintain a directory of vendors, suppliers, and contractors
Work with key personnel, including engineers, architects, contractors, subcontractors, and business owners
Stay up to date with building codes and industry trends
COMPENSATION: Starting at $70,000 annually. Commensurate with experience.
