Purpose To ensure compliance with all external and internal sonic requirements. Support the safety, quality and cost goals of the operation.
Essential Job Functions The assurance that all external and internal quality requirements have been adhered to and incorporated into all aspects of manufacturing to ensure the quality integrity of products and systems.

Creation of Scan plans
Technical assistant to Level 1 and 2 and to any issue that might arise while running parts or after part had been shipped.
Managing the UT Validation system
Reporting Relationships
This position reports to the Quality Assurance Manager.
Daily interactions will occur with accounting, purchasing, engineering, operations, sales, metallurgy, shipping, customers, and auditors.
Education And Qualifications
Equivalent 4 years of college science or engineering degree and a level 2 certification in the required discipline.
Equivalent 2 years of college science or engineering degree and level 2 certification for 2 years at level to in the required discipline.
Without a science or engineering degree the candidate must have at least 4 years at level 2 in the required discipline.
The candidate must pass all required exams within 3 months of accepting the position.
Extensive knowledge and comprehension of customer specifications and the ability to interpret customer prints required.
Knowledge and ability to use internal and commercially available computer systems to obtain and issue information. Ability to use the Internet is required.
Knowledge of standard shop practices and general processing sequences of immersion Ultrasonic of Metal Aerospace parts.
Knowledge of the manufacture of input raw materials.
AS9100D and UT NADCAP knowledge, preferred.
Required Exams In The 3 Month Time Period
General examination sonic ASNT preferred.
Basic examination ASNT preferred.
Specific examination. NAS 410
Practical exam NAS 410/ASNT
Must learn alternate inspection technique knowledge for the Basic examinations.
Special Skills And Physical Requirements
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to convey technical and conceptual material to individuals at all levels in customer organizations as well as within Wyman Gordon.
Proficiency at multi-tasking.
Detail oriented.
Good math skills.
Able to solve complex issues, mental concentration for sustained work periods, patience, and leadership.
Core Responsibilities
Training and monitoring of new personnel for initial certification.
Re‑training of NDE personnel for continued certification.
Maintaining inspector certification records.
Training for new inspection methods / procedures / new version inspection software for automated inspection.
Annual oversight inspection per inspector.
Daily and Annual Audit per inspector.
Procedures
Create new UT procedures per customer requirements.
Interpret code requirements.
Evaluate new job requirements against existing UT procedures.
Periodic review of standard UT inspection procedures.
Annual review of OP procedures for update.
Create inspection scan plans / inspection addendums for specific scanning requirements.
Evaluations
Review and evaluate dimensional deviations for possible supplementary scans.
Assist inspectors on evaluation of indications.
Perform proof‑up exams of suspect indications.
Design and create supplementary inspection plans for deviated UT shapes (Hi Res scan plans).
Interface with customer technical leads for best practice for specific issues.
Audits
Perform internal audits on vendors Wyman Gordon utilizes for inspection services.
Represent the company on customer audits concerning NDE actions.
