Shipping Manager

Salina, KS . The role is responsible for overseeing all outbound shipping operations within the manufacturing facility. It ensures that all outbound products are packaged, documented, and shipped accurately, efficiently, and on schedule.
Responsibilities
Maintain accurate finished goods and repair parts system build schedule and forecast
Plan, organize and manage daily shipping activities to meet customer requirements and delivery deadlines
Ensure orders are picked, packed and shipped accurately and in compliance with company standards
Optimize transportation methods, freight costs, and carrier performance
Maintain accurate shipping documentation, including bills of lading, packing lists and export paperwork
Supervise, train and develop shipping team members
Establish clear performance expectations, conduct evaluations and manage staffing needs
Promote a safety‑focused environment and ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety policies
Develop, implement and continuously improve shipping processes and logistics workflows
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on‑time delivery, shipping accuracy and freight cost efficiency
Collaborate with production and quality teams to resolve shipping or packaging issues
Work closely with inventory control to ensure accurate product availability
Maintain various systems (ERP, WMS, TMS) and ensure data accuracy
Oversee packaging material inventory and coordinate replenishment as needed
Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including domestic and international shipping regulations
Follow all Great Plains and OSHA safety regulations and wear prescribed safety and protective equipment.
Other duties may be assigned that require other qualifications, physical demands, and/or work environment.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from a four‑year college or university; minimum two years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Ability to facilitate efficient cooperation between departments
Ability to assess, prioritize and resolve plant issues and adapt to changing priorities
Proficiency with MRP systems for production transactions
Excellent interpersonal skills with prior management or supervisory experience
